🌍 Greening of the Planet in Canada
About the Global Initiative
Greening of the Planet is a global environmental initiative that originated in Ukraine and quickly grew into one of the largest international ecological movements.
The project was initiated by Hanna Krysiuk and Sergey Gaydaychuk, with the mission to unite people around the world to restore ecosystems through tree planting.
Within its first year, the initiative expanded to over 100 countries, engaging millions of participants and resulting in the planting of millions of trees worldwide.
The project is not only about planting trees — it is about building a culture of environmental responsibility and global unity.
🇨🇦 Implementation in Canada
In Canada, the initiative was implemented with the support of VONA Foundation and Business Woman PRO Canada Corporation, led by Nadiya Yashan.
Tree planting activities took place across multiple provinces and cities, including:

Mississauga (Erindale Park)

Toronto (Centennial Park)

Oshawa (Mitchell Park)

Quebec (Lake Kipawa area)
In addition to organized events, many individuals and families participated independently by planting trees near their homes and sharing photos and geolocations.
This created a powerful sense of collective action across the country.
Community Engagement & Support
A key role in the success of the initiative was played by community outreach.
Through the efforts of VONA Foundation, the Ukrainian community across Canada — in different cities and provinces — was actively engaged and united around this environmental mission.
The initiative was strongly supported by local partners, volunteers, and organizations, including:

We also worked in collaboration with local municipalities, including:

Oshawa City Council

City of Mississauga
Special support was provided by Bonnie Crombie, whose leadership and team helped mobilize volunteers and expand the impact of the project.
Impact
The Greening of the Planet initiative in Canada became part of a much larger global effort that:

contributed to ecosystem restoration
Even small local actions — such as planting trees in parks or backyards — became part of a global movement.
Continuing the Mission
In 2026, we are continuing this environmental initiative in Canada.
